Preschool Playday

Preschoolers, bring your favorite adult to Preschool Playday at the Hastings Museum on the first Tuesday and the following Saturday of each month from September through April. Preschool Playday starts at 10:00 a.m. both Tuesday and Saturday, and lasts about 45 minutes.

Regular museum admission or museum membership covers the cost of Preschool Playday. Reservations are requested by Monday for the Tuesday program and by Friday for the Saturday program. September 2 & 6, 2008 - Wild Things
Lions and tigers and bears – Oh, my! Preschoolers will delight in this friendly, fun, hands-on learning experience as we explore the world of animals!

October 7 & 11, 2008 - Things that Go Bump in the Night
See if you get chills & thrills learning about scary or perhaps not-so-scary animals and traditions that add excitement to our lives. Come dressed as your favorite Halloween tradition. Ghosts and Bats, Jack-o-lanterns…black cats…All are welcome!

November 4 & 8, 2008 - Our Native Friends
Discover the lessons our ancestors were given by our native sons and daughters on how to live in this great country. Make clay pots for cooking; learn about the 3 sisters; and make a beautiful necklace to remember to be thankful for our native people.

December 2 & 6, 2008 - Festive Fun
Celebrate the joys of the season with holiday songs, stories and treats. Children will delight in creating their very own ornaments and crafts to share with family and friends.

January 6 & 10, 2009 - Oh, Yeah! It's Kool-Aid Time
Come along with Edwin Perkins as he creates our favorite treat, Kool-Aid. Learn about his life and times while having delicious fun. Oh, Yeah!

February 3 & 7, 2009 - Bubble Mania
Pop…pop…pop! Bubbles bubbling up in the air! Bubbles, bubbles everywhere! Come have some bubbly fun making, popping and catching bubble fever!

March 3 & 7, 2009 - Toys through Time
Learn the history of our favorite toys as we journey through time learning how we keep ourselves entertained. Hoola-hoops, slinkies, teddy bears, puppets and more…create and have some fun!

April 7 & 11, 2009 - Mud, Seeds, Sun and Fun
Spring is in the air and Summer will soon be there. Learn about sunny fun and how Spring is the time to create it. Plant seeds to watch grow as you grow and learn about sun safety.

There will be no Preschool Playday during May, June, July and August due to SummerFun. Preschool Playday will return in the Fall.

8/29/06 - Christopher Carpenter attended Preschool Playday in April with his mother. They went home with a seed in a test tube. When the plant out grow the test tube, they planted it in a pot. The plant just kept growing. Soon they planted it in their neighbor's garden. Now this pumpkin plant has 10 little pumpkins growing on it. They'll be ready just in time for Halloween.

9/27/06 - Christopher ended up with three large pumpkins from the tiny seed he received at Preschool Playday.
