Since the weather outside is frightful, and you're suffering from cabin fever, it's the prefect time to head to the Hastings Museum. We have activities and classes to get you up and moving.

Riddle Your Days Away

December 26 - January 3, all day

Looking for something to do with the children or out-of-town guests during the holiday break? Bring them to the Hastings Museum and have a whole new experience as you Riddle Your Days Away.

How well do you know the Hastings Museum exhibits? From December 26 to January 3, stop by Visitor Services and choose one of nine fun and exciting photo search puzzlers. So Riddle Your Days Away this holiday season!

WinterFun Classes

December 29 & 30

Winter is just around the corner, so it’s time for WinterFun at the Hastings Museum! Register your kids for our new classes and be a cabin fever hero. WinterFun Classes require advance reservations. Fees are due at time of enrollment and are refundable up to one week prior to the first day of class. To register, please call the Hastings Museum at 1-800-508-4629 or fill out and mail this registration form.

Fees: $8.00 members and $10.00 non-members.

Registration is required by Wednesday, December 23.

Adventure at Fort Kearny

9:30 - 11:30 a.m., Grades K-1
Travel back in time to the beginning of Fort Kearny during Nebraska’s early years. Children will learn about this historic and important stopping point, build their own fort, and make a hat to take home.

Hansel and Gretel’s Gingerbread House

Hansel and Gretel’s Gingerbread House

9:30 - 11:30 a.m., Grades 2-3
There is more to Hansel & Gretel’s story than meets the eye. All agree there was a gingerbread house, so we’ll need to make our own cottage from edible goodies to take home. Sticky fingers are guaranteed in this creative experience!

Little Munchkin’s Theater

Little Munchkin’s Theater

9:30 - 11:30 a.m., Grades K-1
Just like the song, the children will bring Frosty the Snowman to life. They will produce their own version of Frosty’s adventure and adults are welcome to join in! Children will also make a theater and characters to take home.

Children’s Blizzard of 1888

Children’s Blizzard of 1888

9:30 - 11:30 a.m., Grades 2-3
Discover what happened during the famous Blizzard of 1888. Children will battle their own blizzard around the museum and make fun snow crafts to remember their adventure. We might be outdoors so be sure to bundle up!
