Visitors can touch a real fossilized dinosaur leg bone that was found in South Dakota. It is a tibia of a Hadrosaur, a duckbilled dinosaurs that grow to about 30 feet long.

The new traveling exhibit Hatching the Past: Dinosaur Eggs & Babies is opening January 25, 2008. Take a rare and exciting look at the life of dinosaurs through their eggs, nests and embryos. Featured in National Geographic, the exhibit blends the arts and sciences with an astounding array of authentic dinosaur eggs and nests collected from all over the globe—including those of each of the major plant and meat-eating dinosaur groups.

Fighting Dinosaurs

Artwork by Mark Hallett (above) shows a Protoceratops and Velociraptor locked in battle, another scene based on an actual fossil "life assemblage" that was also discovered in Mongolia.

A captivating experience for all ages, you will experience hands-on exploration stations, dig for eggs and view animated video presentations featuring well known dinosaur experts. Each science-rich section is enhanced with exciting life-like models of embryos and hatchlings by well known paleo-sculptors including Gary Staab, plus colorful illustrations of dinosaur family life and stunning photographs by Louie Psihoyos of some of the world’s most renowned dinosaur hunters and their discoveries. The exhibit, sponsored by Yellow Book, will be on display through September 14, 2008 in the East Gallery.
