    Naval Ammunition Depot

Location: Lower Level

This exhibit commemorates the impact the Naval Ammunition Depot (NAD) had on the city of Hastings. The exhibit contains personal items from people impacted by the NAD, as well as some of the munitions manufactured there. Built in 1942, it produced 40% of the Navy’s ammunition needs in 1944. It was one of four major depots in the U.S. and operated until 1958 when it was decommissioned and fully closed in 1966.

The Hastings Museum is always looking for new artifacts and personal stories of people impacted by the NAD to enhance this display.
