Egg Drop Challenge!

Eggs will be dropped from the roof of the Museum! Can you build a vessel to protect your egg? Eggs provided! Open to the first 200 participants.  New this year: Egg-inner & Egg-spert categories! Come join in the fun!egg drop at Hastings Muaeum

Sunday, August 11 (Weather Permitting)
1-3:30p Egg Vessel Assembly
3:30p Egg Drop Begins
(10 eggs dropped at a time)

Complete Rules:

All children under 12 must have adult supervision

Assemble egg containers between 1-3:30pm on Museum lawn.

Starting at 3:30p, Museum staff will drop egg vessels from roof on the south side of Museum. Beginners first, Egg-spert level second

Museum will have limited materials, but we encourage you to bring your own to ensure proper supplies. If bringing your own materials they must be unassembled.

Museum will provide eggs.

Vessel must be constructed on Museum property.

One egg per person

Cannot bring your own egg

Egg-inner vessel cannot exceed 10 inches in diameter
Egg-spert vessel cannot exceed 5 inches in diameter

Egg-inner Approved Materials:
Newspaper, cardboard, tape, plastic food containers, cotton balls, paper towels, napkins, toilet paper, sponges, Ziploc bags, grocery bags, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, empty Kool-Aid packaging, scissors, clothing, and fabric.

Egg-spert Approved Materials:
newspaper, cardboard, tape, plastic food containers, cotton balls, paper towels, napkins, toilet paper, sponges, Ziploc bags, grocery bags, empty Kool-Aid packaging, scissors, clothing, and fabric.

Prohibited Materials:
food (including eggs), liquids, glass, and balloons

The Museum maintains the right to refuse any vessel not made with approved material or exceeding approved size.
