Northern Lights Possible Tonight (Saturday Evening – Sunday Morning)

You may want to keep a close eye on the sky tonight after dark. A recent blast of solar particles from the Sun impacted Earth at 1pm CDT on Saturday. This means that conditions are favorable for an appearance of the Northern Lights (Aurora). Start looking North after 11pm CDT through about 3:30 am. The Northern Lights usually begin low in the North and build up as slowly moving curtains of colored light, anything from white, yellow, green or red. The colors of the auroras correspond to different gasses in the Earth’s atmosphere being excited by the charged particles from the Sun. It can be an unforgettable site and the Moon will be out of the way for this event! IF it happens.
