OPENS SEPT 15

Nano is an interactive exhibition that engages family audiences in nanoscale science, engineering, and technology. Hands-on exhibits present the basics of nanoscience and engineering, introduce some real world applications, and explore the societal and ethical implications of this new technology.

Nano was created by the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Network) with support from the National Science Foundation.

The Nebraska Center for Materials and Nanoscience has an overall goal of providing for the State of Nebraska and the University of Nebraska a nationallyNano recognized center of excellence in materials research science and engineering, nanoscience, and nanotechnology. The Center is strengthened by a rather broad research purview, with participation by a wide variety of faculty from UNL Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Physics, UNO Chemistry, UNO Physics, UNMC, and UNK Chemistry.

With funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) the exhibit was awarded by NISE Net—the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network–to University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Nebraska Center for Materials and Nanoscience (NCMN) and Nebraska EPSCoR (this state’s NSF-funded Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research).

This exhibit will be on display from September 2015 until January UNLCMN2016, and is on loan from the Nebraska Center for Materials and Nanoscience.
