Prairie Fibers Weavers and Spinners are coming to the Hastings Museum, and you’re invited!
Have you ever wanted to try weaving something but didn’t know where to start? Or, how a spinning wheel works? Well now is your chance to get up close to a loom and spinning wheel at the Spinning and Weaving Demonstrations on Saturday, March 16 from 1-4 pm.
Join members of the Prairie Fibers Spinners and Weavers Guild as they show you how to work a spinning wheel and loom. Find out about the different kind of looms and what kind of fibers can be spun into yarn. See woven artifacts from the museum collection such as coverlets and linens. You can also try your hand at using a loom. Great for 4-H clubs and Scouts! More than 20 artists on site. Spin fibers into yarn and weave yarn into fabric. Learn about tatting, bobbin lace, and other fiber arts! If you get hooked, the demonstrators will be more than happy to get you started on your own projects.
