Infinity Express
Take an Express Ride through the UniverseJune 6 - September 6, 2010Infinity Express, our new fulldome planetarium show, takes you on an exciting journey of discovery. Travel through our solar system toward deep space; far beyond our own Milky Way galaxy. Some of the best space visualization agencies from around the world, including the Space Telescope Science Institute and the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing at Swinburne University of Technology, contributed to the production, interpreting the script developed between the writer and experts from the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. Infinity Express is an immersive experience designed for fulldome planetariums. Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) elegantly narrates the show, a remarkable blend of science, art, and entertainment that dramatically communicates the latest breakthroughs in our quest to understand the universe. One of the most fascinating parts of the presentation is the brief but exciting computer animation fly through of a small sliver of the universe and the clusters of galaxies that are in it. Some of the best Hubble Space Telescope images are also shown in a fascinating gallery view. This new fulldome show is brought to you in memory of O.J. (Jim) McDougal by his family and friends. Mr. McDougal was a member of the Hastings Museum Board of Trustees from 1980-1997 and a Hastings Museum Foundation Charter Member. Infinity Express shows daily at 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. through September 6. Also, for those that wish to see what is up in the current night sky, we offer The Sky Tonight daily at 1:00 p.m. starting Monday, June 7. Click here for showtimes
