DESCRIPTION:Experience the Hastings Museum in a welcoming\, sensory-friendly environment during Sensory Night on Saturday\, July 11\, from 5:00–7:00 pm\, in partnership with Kids & Dreams Foundation! \nThere will be special sensory-friendly accommodations available during the evening event. Everyone is welcome\, and all ages are encouraged to attend.\nThroughout the event\, guests can enjoy sensory-friendly maps\, social narratives\, sensory schedules\, Then/Now storyboards\, noise-reducing headphones\, and sensory bags (available on a first-come\, first-served basis). Select background exhibit sounds will be turned off to create a more comfortable experience.\n\nThe Kids & Dreams Foundation will cover admission for the first 75 participants who register through the foundation. To reserve your spot\, email aaron@kidsanddreams.org.\n\nMuseum Members receive free admission as part of their membership\, and standard admission rates apply to all other guests. This K-8 curriculum guide provides dozens of engaging\, hands-on activities that can be used to teach about trees\, wildlife\, water\, air\, energy\, climate change\, and more. These investigation-based lessons are designed to take one or two 50-minute periods and can be taught in a variety of settings. DESCRIPTION:Bring science to life while falling in love with trees at the Hastings Museum \nJoin us on Thursday\, October 1st from 9:30 am to 2 pm for an unbe-leaf-ably fun-filled field trip! This educational festival geared towards grades 2-4 will feature hands-on stations with learning activities from Project Learning Tree presented by various partner organizations. All activities will focus on trees: their importance for people\, ecosystems\, and conservation. Students will have the opportunity to re-create a tree’s life cycle\, dig into a fallen log\, work cooperatively as parts of a tree to discover how it functions\, explore trees as habitats\, investigate owl pellets\, and more! \nAll stations at Tree Jamboree are aligned to Nebraska State Standards in Science\, English-Language Arts\, Social Studies\, and Math as well as the Next Generation Science Standards. Students and teachers will also be able to explore the Museum and nearby arboretum during the day. \nLimited space is available.
