DESCRIPTION:Photo 101 \n\nJune 22-26\n1 pm-3 pm\nGrades 2-3\nClass Min/Max: (10/20)\nInstructor: Raksha Shrestha\n\nThey say a picture is worth a thousand words. In this class we will learn the basis of taking great pictures while exploring the world through a new lens- literally! From learning about perspectives and developing observation skills to creating one of a kind photo frames\, students will gain the confidence to capture the world around them\, one snap at a time. \n\nClasses are $60 for members and $70 for non-members. The application for our Ashley Kulwicki Scholarship for the 2026 season is now full. \nRegistration can be completed in person\, online with the link below\, or over the phone. Please remember to register for each class individually and submit a health form for each child! \n\n  \n\nREGISTER FOR THE CLASSFILL OUT THE HEALTH FORMlearn about summer fun\nEach year in June and July\, the Hastings Museum hosts a selection of classes for kids that focus on art\, history\, and science! \nFrom first-time museum explorers to returning campers\, our summer classes provide a welcoming environment where kids can learn\, connect with others\, and enjoy a fun and enriching summer experience at the Hastings Museum. \nLearn more about Summer Fun details and class offerings here! \nStill have questions? However\, if your child is attending more than one class\, you only need to submit the health form once per child.\n\nFill out the Health Form here! Register for classes online here! \n\nGrade levels refer to the grade your child will enter in the Fall of 2026. Your child must be 4 years old by the first day of camp for classes marked age 4 & 5. Children must be fully bathroom independent (potty trained) to do our 4 & 5 year old camps.\n\n\nSign-up deadline for each class is 7 days prior to the first day of class. In order to provide adequate supplies for each class\, deadlines are firm. Fees are due at time of enrollment and are refundable up to 7 days prior to the first day of class.\n\n\nRegistrants and participants permit the taking of photos and videos of themselves and their children during Hastings ­Museum activities for publication and use as the Museum deems necessary.\n\n\nMinimum and maximum number of participants for each class are in parentheses after the date and time. DESCRIPTION:Craft-a-palooza \n\nJune 23-25\n1 pm-4 pm\nGrades 4-6\nClass Min/Max: (10/20)\nInstructor: Katie Karr\n\nGet ready for a week bursting with creativity at Craft-A-Palooza! This hands-on art camp invites young artists to explore a variety of materials\, techniques\, and styles while letting their imagination run wild. Campers will create their own beaded animal keychains\, learn lettering and design techniques inspired by street art and graffiti\, design clay pots\, and carve and print with their very own handmade stamps. \nNote: Although we will do our best to contain the mess\, please be aware we will be working with materials that may not wash out of clothing well. \n\nClasses are $60 for members and $70 for non-members. Alexander Ave.\, Clay Center\, NE 68933\, for a Community Conversation focused on gathering feedback and ideas about what this future gallery could include. This event is hosted in partnership with the Clay Center Community Club. \nAs we begin early development of this exhibit\, staff are seeking input to guide its direction\, themes\, and storytelling. The Naval Ammunition Depot played a significant role in Hastings’ history\, influencing everything from wartime production efforts to everyday life. This event offers an opportunity for the public to share their thoughts and help shape the topics presented in the upcoming exhibit. \nFor those unable to attend\, feedback forms are available online and will remain open for community members to share their thoughts and ideas. \nThis event is part of the Museum’s ongoing Community Conversation series\, which gathers public input to guide institutional planning and development efforts. DESCRIPTION:NINE LITTLE INDIANSFilm Screening\n\n\nJoin us for a one-night special screening of “Nine Little Indians” on Thursday\, June 25 at 6:00 pm!\n\nThis powerful documentary tells the story of Native American boarding schools through the lived experience of survivors\, including the long and painful 20-year battle fought by sisters to bring the truth forward and seek accountability for what happened to them as children.\n\nThe evening will begin with speakers before the film\, including director Shannon Kring and survivor and participant Yvonne “Pat” Charbonneau.
