Upcoming 2012-13 Preschool Playday Programs

(Second Saturday of Each Month / 10-11 am)

Free for members / Regular museum admission for non-members

January 12 – Toys Through Time
Children will enjoy playing their way through time, just like their parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents! We’ll learn how people played before there were Xboxes and the Wii. Children will make a handmade toy to take home. Timelines and information will be available to favorite adults to help their child find out where many of their favorite toys came from.

The Imagination Playground will be open to participants of Preschool Playday and the public from 11 am – 12 pm. The Imagination Playground is a set of giant foam blocks of different shapes and sizes.  It is free for members and regular museum admission for non-members.

February 9 – Little Scientists Catch Bubblemania!
Pop…pop…pop!  Bubbles bubbling up in the air!  Bubbles, bubbles everywhere!  Little Scientists will have some bubbly fun making, popping and catching bubble fever! Preschoolers and their favorite adults will have fun creating bubbles, racing bubbles, bouncing bubbles, popping bubbles and even being inside a bubble.

March 9 – Let’s Get Cooking!
Preschoolers and their favorite adults will enjoy whipping up a menu of fun at the Hastings Museum!   Part of the fun is looking the part, so preschoolers will wear a chef’s hat when making their very own salad, roll-ups, drink and a sweet Hastings Museum slider. As much fun as it is to cook, eating their creations will be even better! Please contact Lynn, 402-461-2399, for any allergy concerns. An ingredients list is available at the front desk.

April 13 – Things that Go Bump in the Night
BUMP! What was that?!? Bump-thump! Oh, dear! Oh, me! Oh, my! Ever wonder what’s making all that noise as you’re trying to sleep? Children and their favorite adults will learn what people and animals are awake when they are asleep, listen to the night in the planetarium and make a fun craft to take home.
