2027 marks the Hastings Museum’s Centennial, celebrating 100 years of sparking curiosity, inviting exploration, and telling the ongoing story of Central Nebraska!

Join us on Saturday, January 9, as we kick off a year of special programs and celebrations with our Birthday Bash, commemorating the anniversary of the Museum’s opening to the public in 1927.

Hastings Museum members are invited to start the festivities with an exclusive birthday party from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, featuring cake, classic birthday games, and fun for all ages. Please RSVP by January 1 to help us plan for supplies.

From 12:00 to 7:00 pm, enjoy free Museum admission for everyone as our way of saying thank you for a century of community support. Explore our exhibits, enjoy our Planetarium shows, and celebrate 100 years of discovery with us!

Make a day of it with films in our Super Screen Theatre, too! A variety of films will be shown throughout the day, beginning at 9:30 am, with the final film starting at 6:00 pm. Film tickets are available for an additional cost.

The Hastings Museum first opened its doors on January 9, 1927, in the former Hawthorne School building, bringing the lifelong vision of founder Albert Munsell Brooking to life. Driven by a passion for collecting and a fascination with the natural world, Brooking created a place where people could explore, learn, and discover. One hundred years later, that spirit of curiosity continues!

Be part of this milestone celebration as we honor our history, thank our community, and look forward to the next century of discovery at the Hastings Museum.
