Image of Matt Jones, EDUCATOR

Matt Jones is a native of Kearney, Nebraska. Matt earned his teaching certificate in secondary Social Studies education in 2005 from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Matt began his career as a program assistant at Audubon’s Rowe Sanctuary in 2010. There he worked alongside the education director to develop and deliver environmental education programming for youth and adults, in addition to coordinating seasonal volunteers. From 2012-2023 Matt was the state coordinator for the Nebraska Master Naturalist Program, an adult education program hosted through the University of Nebraska Lincoln. In that time Matt led and organized environmental education and natural history programming, training opportunities and volunteer opportunities for 650+ volunteers statewide. Matt is anticipating a completion of his M.A. in Applied Science, Science for Educators in the Fall of 2023. Matt lives in Kearney with his wife Ruth and his 5 kids, two dogs and a cat.
