Comet Viewing
October 15 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
| FREEA Unique Astronomical Event!
Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) will appear in all its splendor over our night sky on September 27 through the last week of October. Astronomers are calling this “the comet of the century” and believe it will be exceptionally bright, similar to Halley’s comet in 1986 or NEOWISE in 2020.
Get an up-close look at this celestial object with the Museum’s telescope on Oct 15 at 7:30 pm at Brickyard Park near the western tree line. Planetarium coordinator Kirk Rosberg will be on hand to tell you all about what you are seeing.
Comet viewing will be from 7:30 pm to 8 pm, followed by a Live Sky Tonight. See constellations in the autumn sky and hear Greek mythology involving Cassiopeia, Andromeda, Perseus, Pegasus, and even a sea monster.
Members of the public are welcome to bring binoculars. This event is weather/clouds permitting! If it is too cloudy, the event will not be rescheduled.
