It’s not just kids who love museums!
Kids and adults are always interested in the same aspects of history, science, or pop culture. To address this reality, we sometimes offer events and programming, just for adults:
There’s More to the Story
Each of the events in this series will take a topic and explore its lesser known facts, figures, and stories. These gatherings are limited to just 30 guests so that folks can get their questions answered. The first two events in this series focused on baseball and Adams County, and both sold out! The final ‘There’s More to the Story’ of this year is Oct. 2 and focuses on the Museum itself. What do elephant hair, shells, and copper have in common? How many of the Museum’s artifacts are actually on display? Join us as we answer these questions with a behind-the-scenes collections tour, play a guessing game of What is That Artifact?, and so much more! $12 for Members, $17 for Non-Members, plus tax. Ticket includes snacks and one drink ticket. Cash Bar will be available. These are 21+ events on Saturday nights.
Cocktails with the Curators
Enjoy drinks, snacks, and unusual stories about our collection and exhibits. Each of our three floors will be hosted by a different Museum professional. You’ll get a 10-minute mini-tour, then a bit of time to ask questions and look around before you transfer to the next station. Also on each floor there’s a theme that ties through the tour, your snack, and the beverage! Tickets to this 21+ event are just $20, plus tax. You ticket includes admission and one drink per person on each floor. This event is limited usually limited to 45 guests, which mean no more than 15 people with each curator at a time. This event does not adhere to regular schedule, please watch our website and follow our social media channels for the next Cocktails with Curators.
And More!
Our Member events often have educational components that focus just on adults. There are certain tours that primarily attract adults, especially our WWII bus tours that include background on the Naval Ammunition Depot just southeast of town. Several shows in our Planetarium, and even Solar Observing on our patio, are favorites regardless of age!
