ENHANCED LEARNING

FOR OLDER KIDS

The are Planetarium shows and Large Format films perfect for students in grades 7-12. The Museum does not, however, have staff-led educational programs for this age group. That said, we’re still a great destination for these students. Many teachers bring their students here to research, visually study, and even sketch a wide variety of animals mounts. Our Rocks & Minerals exhibit is a great way to enhance students’ learning experiences with geology and prehistoric history. On the top floor, Lock, Stock & Barrel is an exhibit that features more than 500 firearms. It spans weaponry from the Plains Indians to the Vietnam War. It can tie into American history lessons at numerous grade levels.

We’ve also just introduced: Astronomy Spotlight. It’s a new video series that will preview what students can look for in the night sky each month. It joins our other free online offerings: more than 30 webisodes of the Museum Minute (many of which focus on local history) and two online exhibits (more will follow). We hope you take a look.
