The Hastings Museum is thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration with the Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NCBVI) and Tactile Images, a subsidiary of 3DPhotoWorks LLC, to bring a transformative tactile exhibition entitled Experience the Cosmos: The James Webb Space Telescope, to our community December 21  through March 20. This partnership marks a significant milestone in enhancing accessibility, empowerment, and inclusivity for individuals with diverse
abilities in Nebraska.

Experience the Cosmos: The James Webb Space Telescope is a remarkable exhibition produced in collaboration with the Space Telescope Science Institute.
Prepare for an incredible journey into space exploration’s future. The James Webb Space Telescope, or JWST, is poised to revolutionize our understanding of the cosmos.

Experience and explore the telescope’s groundbreaking mission to use advanced technology to unveil distant galaxies, the birth of stars as nebulas, and exoplanet atmospheres, reshaping our cosmic understanding. Explore interactive exhibits, visuals, and informative displays for all ages. Join us as we
unlock the universe’s secrets with JWST and be part of history in the making.

This exhibit provides transformative experiences for the visually impaired through innovative tactile printing techniques, offering tactile exploration of visual and graphic materials accompanied by braille text, and audio narratives. With a focus on accessibility, empowerment, and inclusivity, Tactile Images is committed to making knowledge and experiences accessible to all.  This collaboration aims to enrich lives, promote critical skills acquisition, and foster independence through accessible, engaging exhibitions.

The partnership with Tactile Images and NCBVI underscores the Hastings Museum’s commitment to accessibility and community enrichment. By hosting this traveling tactile exhibition, we are creating a more inclusive environment for individuals with diverse abilities, allowing them to explore, learn, and engage with art, science, history, and technology in new and exciting ways.
